Tire Care

Tips to Prolong the Life of Your Tires

Exclusive summary about Tire Care By Gregg Hall

Quality car tires can increase your safety on the road by many times.

• Always maintain the correct tire pressure for your car wheels. If you maintain the correct tire pressure, then the car will run smoothly giving you a good mileage. Tires with low tire pressure than is required will drag on the road creating friction which will eventually cost your less mileage. Tires in right pressure ensure a good balance on the road, better handling and grip.

• Whenever the temperature drops drastically, check the tire pressure. The pressure within the tire falls too with a drop in temperature.

• Always rotate your tires.

Consult a tire professional while choosing your replacement tire.

• Last but not the least is the wheel alignment.

How to Take Care of Your Car Tires

Exclusive summary about How to Take Care of Your Car Tires By Mara Bateman

While recapped tires are decidedly cheap, they don't last long as much as brand-new tires do. Tires have shelf lives, too. So that means even spare tires, especially those that are exposed to elements (spare tires that are fitted outside of the car body), "grow old". The rate of tire deterioration depends on the brand of the tire. Some tires tend to "crack" earlier than others.

- Check your car's manual or ask your mechanic for the maximum allowable tire pressure.

- Check your tire's tread depth. If tread depth is less than 3 millimeters, it's time to replace the tire.

- Inspect your tires regularly for proper inflation, damage or wear. - Replace your tires properly. You certainly can't help being a road nuisance if you happen to suffer a flat tire.

  1. Yes, proper tire inflation is very important for safe driving and tire wear. I just learned that 85% of tires on the road are under-inflated! My dealer suggested high-purity nitrogen inflation for my tires 2 years ago. I couldn't be more impressed! I have Z-rated tires for my Honda S2000 which tend to wear out rather quickly. Not so fast with the nitrogen. I already have 6 more months on this set than the last set and they still have alot of tread left!
